1686: Por Real Cédula, se crea la Misión Capuchina de Guayana.

1816: En Los Cayos (Haití), en casa de Juana Bourvil, Simón Bolívar es elegido por una asamblea de patriotas venezolanos y granadinos como Jefe Supremo, y le confieren toda la autoridad civil y militar para organizar la expedición que debía salir de Los Cayos. A esta reunión asistieron, entre otros, Santiago Mariño, Manuel Piar, Francisco Bermúdez, Luis Brión, Carlos Soublette, José Antonio Anzoátegui, Vicente Landaeta. (A pesar de ser electo como jefe único, no le será fácil mantener dicha jefatura, y especialmente después del fracaso de la expedición que sale de esta reunión).

1859: Muere en Colombia el geógrafo y cartógrafo italiano Agustín Codazzi, quien prestó valiosos servicios a Venezuela. Escribió el Resumen de la Geografía de Venezuela y su incomparable Atlas Físico y Político de Venezuela. Fue fundador de la Colonia Tovar y en vida se distinguió por su acendrado bolivarianismo.
