1538 Nace en Veldemoro, España, el misionero franciscano Pedro de Aguado, considerado el primer historiador que escribe sobre Venezuela.

1816 La noche de este día, Páez con 500 lanceros derrota al coronel Francisco López en el combate de Mata de la Miel, (fue el único que se atrevió a combatir de noche) triunfo por el cual el gobierno de la Nueva Granada le concede el ascenso a Teniente Coronel.

1820 Bolívar confirma el ascenso a General de Brigada que le había otorgado Zea a Antonio José de Sucre, es el general más joven de toda la historia de América.

1823 Nace en Angostura Juan Bautista Dalla Costa Soublette, quien como gobernador erigió en su ciudad natal la estatua de Bolívar más antigua que existe en el país y sufragada por suscripción popular.

1954 Los restos de Simón Rodríguez son depositados en el Panteón Nacional.

1985 En un accidente automovilístico muere el compositor y cantor popular venezolano Alí Primera.
